Botta-S

Botta-S is the label of Italian designer and craftsman Stefano Botta, who works from his atelier in Treviso. With a background in metalworking, Botta is largely self-taught in shoemaking and garment construction. This unusual background explains the strongly physical, handcrafted character of his work.

Leather, construction and visible traces of the making process are central to the label. His shoes and boots, in particular, feel deliberately archaic and pared back: substantial leathers, striking forms and hand-worked surfaces take the place of decoration.

Botta-S follows a personal vision of material and form rather than conventional fashion trends. Subtle irregularities, ageing and patina are embraced as an intentional part of each piece.

The result is a raw, almost primitive aesthetic, whose apparent simplicity belies intensive work with materials and precise craftsmanship.
