Japanese label DEVOA was founded by Daisuke Nishida in 2007. Before designing clothes, Nishida studied human anatomy and its medical context, a background that continues to shape the distinctive construction of his garments.
DEVOA considers clothing in direct relation to the body, musculature and movement. Patterns are developed from the label's own hypotheses about human anatomy. Complex seam arrangements and three-dimensional construction challenge conventional ideas of how a jacket, a pair of trousers or a coat should be made.
Material development is equally central. Fabric, cut and body are considered together as a connected system.
This approach gives DEVOA its distinctive character: the clothes have an avant-garde presence without relying on decorative effects. Their complexity comes from the construction itself, bringing together anatomical research, material innovation and Japanese precision.
